On Saturday, April 5th, Northwest Montessori House of Children is proud to celebrate our 30th Anniversary serving Austin students and families. To commemorate the occasion we would love for you to join us for a Spring Festival. Our Spring Fest will have games, food, and a lot of fun.

In 1981, our Executive Director, Shireen de Silva AMI, immigrated to Austin from with her husband Kenneth and two daughters. Shireen's dream was to make a difference in the lives of children. In April 1984, her dream became a reality. With the support of her husband, Shireen established a small Montessori school with a modest twelve student enrollment. Since its founding, Northwest Montessori House of Children has been dedicated to the intellectual growth and development of more than one thousand students aged 18 months to 6 years. Over the years, the unwavering support of the Austin community has made it possible for Northwest Montessori to provide a place where all children can dream, hope, and aspire to become intelligent, active members of global community.

It has been a wonderful thirty years! We would love for you to join us on April 5th, from 9am-12pm, for what is sure to be a wonderful day.

About Us

Northwest Montessori House of Children, INC.

From its founding in 1984, under the direction of Ms. Shireen De Silva, Northwest Montessori House of Children has been privileged to witness the growth and development of over a thousand students and watch as they continue their education with confidence in their own abilities and potential. Over the years, we have expanded to include four campuses with students ranging from 18 months to 6 years old under the guidance of over twenty dedicated and passionate teachers. At Northwest Montessori we whole-heartedly believe that a school is a family and that our children are best educated by a community of students, parents, and faculty. We intentionally keep the school environment intimate and the class sizes small. Our classrooms are fully equipped with time-tested Montessori materials and educational tools, and each of our campuses has a large, fully shaded playground. We utilize the Montessori method of education, which aids in the accelerated development of your child, further enhancing his or her knowledge and self-esteem. The Montessori method encourages all children to develop their own skills at a pace they set and is rooted in a core belief that education should not only impart knowledge, but must always strive to unlock human potential.
