"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
-- Martin Luther King Jr.

This Past January...

We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday, full of family, friends, food and many happy memories. We are so excited to welcome the New Year, and with it all of the students new to Northwest Montessori. This past December, everything came together so beautifully for the big Holiday Program. The students worked so hard and we were so proud that so many parents and friends were there to share that special night with us.

Upcoming January Events...

Sunday, January 18 -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The school will close on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday to honor the legacy of the man who fought so tirelessly and passionately to secure the civil rights of future generations. Before his assassination in 1968, Dr. King was a brilliant orator, a dedicated clergyman, a Nobel peace prize winner, and a citizen who believed that through non-violence and civil disobedience good people could stand together to make the world a better place.

Inauguration Day...

On January 20, Barack H. Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of The United States of America.

Why the Montessori Method?...

Confidence

We, as educations, try to understand confidence as a force not simply bound by the building of self-esteem but as something greater defined by a conscious awareness of our own powers and abilities. It is one of the primary goals of Montessori education to teach children how to control themselves and control the outcome of their activities again and again, knowing that these successful experiences and the awareness of challenges mastered are what build confidence.
