January 2013

"For last year's words belong to last year's language.
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning."
-- T.S. Eliot

This Past December:

We hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday, full of family, friends, food and many happy memories. Everything came together wonderfully for the big Holiday Program. Thank you again to all the students, teachers and parents for their hard work!

This December, Ms. Erin's students had a lot of fun making their own red-nosed Rudolphs. Ms. Sunita's children had an exciting time learning about Kwanzaa and Ms. Lindsey's class did an interesting experiment on freezing and melting. Ms. Denise's students enjoyed playing the dreidel game as they learned about Hanukkah, while Ms Crystal's class cooked up some delicious potato latkes. Ms. Khataw's class learned about all the winter festivals.

We hope the upcoming year is joyful for you and all of your families! Happy 2013!

Why the Montessori Method?

Of all the gifts that we receive in life, encouragement seems to be one of the greatest. It often makes the difference between failure and success, between giving up and pushing through. The simplest words of encouragement may seem small, but this kind of attention enables children to learn with confidence in their own innate potential. And once they have that kind of confidence they can continue learning and mastering without comparison and competition with their peers.
