"And so we discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being."
-- Maria Montessori

This Past July...

From Splash day to Ball day, we had so much fun on Fridays this past month! Ms. Khataw's class studied Canada, and the engaging world of rocks and minerals. Ms. Denise's class learned about their 5 senses and dinosaurs! Ms. Crystal's class discussed Brazil and the Galapagos Islands. Ms. Sunita's class talked about the continents, along with primary and secondary colors, while Ms. Lindsey's class studied oceans and shapes. Ms. Malini's class learned about tools and machines and discovered different fruits. Ms. Erin's class had a great time talking about summer. Our reading contest was a huge success! Ms. Khataw, Ms. Denise, and Ms. Crystal's classes did a great job and read a ton of books. The final results will be announced in the next newsletter so stay tuned.

A world-renowned physician, educator, philosopher, humanitarian, and pioneer; she is best remembered as the founder of the Montessori Method of education which encourages all children to develop their own skills at a pace they set. She believed that education should not only impart knowledge but also seek to unlock human potential. Her philosophy has been used successfully across cultures and economic classes throughout the world.
