April 2014

"The essence of childhood, of course, is play, which my friends and I did endlessly on streets that we reluctantly shared with traffic."
-- Bill Cosby

This Past Month:

In March Ms. Ali's class spent time learning about the inspiring life of Helen Keller. Ms. Denise's class enjoyed their unit on Australia and New Zealand, while Ms. Crystal's class celebrated several holidays, such as Mardi Gras and International Women's Day. Ms. Tamara's students discussed the parts of a flower and Ms. Rubina's children learned the history of St. Patrick's Day. Ms. Sunita's students had a lot of fun growing their own plants and Ms. Lindsey's class had a wonderful unit on Dr. Seuss. Ms. Erin's children talked about their pets, and Ms. Malini's class practiced making bubbles.

Why the Montessori Method?

Encouragement

Of all the gifts that we receive in life, encouragement seems to be one of the greatest. It often makes the difference between failure and success, between giving up and pushing through. The simplest words of encouragement may seem small, but this kind of attention enables children to learn joyfully with confidence in their own innate potential. And once they have that kind of confidence they can continue learning and mastering without comparison and competition with their peers.
