"The manner of giving is worth more than the gift."
-- Pierre Corneille

This Past November:

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday full of family, friends, and food. This November, Ms. Malini's Sunflowers had a great time tasting different kinds of vegetables, while Ms. Erin's Daisies discussed different types of weather. Ms. Sunita's students explored the continent of Australia and Ms. Lindsey's children learned about density. Ms. Rubina's class learned about the parts of a cow, Ms. Crystal's students studied chemical reactions and Ms. Tamara's children discussed bears and hibernation. Ms. Denise's class studied several African countries: Kenya, Nigeria & Egypt. Finally, Ms. Ali's class had a wonderful time learning the history of Thanksgiving and Veterans Day, two important November holidays.

Upcoming December Events:

Winter Holiday Program - Friday, December 12th

On Friday, December 12th the school will close early so that we can get ready for our big year-end holiday program! All classes will have lunch at 11:30am. Please bring lunch as usual then pick up your child or children between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Then come join us at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church at 5:00pm (children should be dropped off by 4:30 pm) for an evening full of song, snacks, and Santa. The children have been working so hard and we cannot wait for you to see what they can do! More details about the program will be sent home in the next few days.

Why the Montessori Method?

Confidence

We, as educators, try to understand confidence as a force not simply bound by the building of self-esteem but as something greater defined by a conscious awareness of our own powers and abilities. It is one of the primary goals of Montessori education to teach children how to control themselves and control the outcome of their activities again and again, knowing that these successful experiences and the awareness of challenges mastered are what builds confidence.

'Tis the Season!

Happy Winter Solstice
Happy Hanukkah
Merry Christmas
Happy Kwanzaa
