"If apples were pears, and peaches were plums, and the rose had a different name. If tigers were bears, and fingers were thumbs, I'd love you just the same."
-- Valentine's Day Song

This Past January:

The first month of the New Year has come and gone! We had so much fun in January getting to know our new friends and learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. Ms. Malini's Sunflowers learned about different types of birds, while Ms Erin's Daisies practiced healthy habits. Ms. Sunita's class explored North America, Ms. Tisa's class studied the five senses, and Ms. Rubina's kids discussed the parts of a horse. Ms. Tamara's students learned about the geography of the world, while Ms. Crystal's children enjoyed baking delicious scones. Ms. Denise's class had an interesting unit on Europe and was treated to presentations on Romania from Abel's mom, on Greece from Georgia's dad and on England from Nina's mom. Ms. Ali's class studied the different countries of Asia.

Upcoming February Events:

  • Groundhog Day - Tuesday, February 2nd
  • Everyone will wake up early to see if Punxsutawney Phil, the world's most famous groundhog, emerges from his den to see his shadow. Of course, if he does we're all in for six more weeks of winter.

  • Valentine's Day Party - Friday, February 12th
  • What better way to celebrate the season of love than to have a party with our friends? We will have a great time playing games and exchanging Valentines. Don't forget to wear your pink and red!

Why the Montessori Method?

Development of Initiative

A Montessori environment not only encourages initiative but also fosters it. Students do not wait around for the teacher, but have been taught the general principles and approaches to the material and are therefore free to explore on their own. Too many of the tasks we take on in life are forced upon us, but a true passion for learning comes when we get to choose our own projects and pour all of our energy into their completion. A Montessori education is specifically designed to nurture this kind of initiative, exploration, discovery and love of learning in every child.
